One-off Financial Aid for Hellenic Police Personnel from the Special Aid Account (death, serious illness, incapacity, natural disaster)

The Special Aid Account for Hellenic Police Personnel (Law 2168/1993) is run by the "Welfare and Excellence of the Hellenic Police" Foundation and gives one-off financial aid for particular financial hardship caused by: the death of the member; the member's incapacity due to injury or illness; a serious illness of the member or a family member when treatment requires going abroad or costs beyond what insurers cover; natural disasters, earthquakes or another serious accident; the death of the member's spouse or child. All serving Hellenic Police personnel are compulsory members; after retirement they can remain members for ten years. Beneficiaries, in order of priority, are the member, the spouse and unmarried unemployed children, and the parents and unmarried minor siblings. The Foundation's board examines the application and a decision of the Chief of the Hellenic Police sets the amount: up to EUR 50,000, 40,000 or 25,000 depending on the case. Preventive tests and doctor visits not linked to malignancy, a chronic serious illness or an injury are not covered.

Assisted reproduction (for procedures from 10/2/2025): for IVF up to two (2) requests, up to €3,000 each, when they concern having a first child (married or civil-partnership couples, or a single woman with a donor; if there is already a child, one request only); for insemination one (1) request only, up to €1,000. The procedure must have been completed.
