What it is
When your main home was damaged by a natural disaster and the teams of the General Directorate for Natural Disaster Recovery (GDAEFK) rated it temporarily unfit («yellow») or dangerous («red»), you can get a temporary housing subsidy: - a rent subsidy, if you rent another home in the same or a neighbouring regional unit: €300 a month for one person, +€50 for each additional household member living with you, up to €500 a month; - a co-habitation subsidy, if you are hosted in another person's main home in the same or a neighbouring regional unit: 50% of the above amounts.
Owners and people who lived in a home given to them free of charge get it for up to two years; tenants of the damaged home only as a co-habitation subsidy and for up to six months. It is not given if you have an empty or secondary home less than 25 km away. Each household member with a disability counts as one extra person (up to €500). The subsidy is paid per quarter, from the start of the lease or hosting. The application for the 1st quarter goes to the competent ΓΔΑΕΦΚ service (or online at arogi.services.gov.gr, when it opens for that event) within the deadline of the joint ministerial decision on temporary-housing aid for the disaster; for each following quarter, within 1 month of its end.
