What it is
The Municipality of Apokoronas pays a grant for every newborn child in low-income families. The measure was adopted by the Municipal Council (decision 1/2025) and applies to births from 1 January 2026. It is paid regardless of any other support the family gets from the state or other bodies.
Amounts: - €1,500.00 for the first child; - €2,000.00 for the second child; - €2,500.00 for each child from the third on.
Conditions: permanent residence in the Municipality of Apokoronas, birth from 1/1/2026 and total yearly family income up to €20,000, plus €1,000 for each child.
A committee of the Municipality checks the applications (permanent residence, birth date, income, family status certificate) and the Municipal Committee approves payment; the first 26 applications were examined in June 2026. Ask the Municipality about documents and deadlines.
