Parental leave allowance
Employed parents (biological, adoptive, foster) of a child up to 8 years old, who take the 4-month parental leave, which the employer grants by posting Form E.14 on ERGANI (as a rule after 1 year with the same employer; earlier if the employer agrees). The allowance stops the day after the child's 8th birthday.
Equal to the minimum wage per month (for the first 2 of the 4 months of parental leave per parent), plus the proportional share of the holiday and leave bonuses; insurance cover with e-EFKA during the payment period

What it is
Employed parents (biological, adoptive, foster) of a child up to 8 years old, who take the 4-month parental leave, which the employer grants by posting Form E.14 on ERGANI (as a rule after 1 year with the same employer; earlier if the employer agrees). The allowance equals the minimum wage (€920 from 1/4/2026) for 2 months per parent for each child, plus a share of the holiday bonuses and leave allowance; +2 months once for twins or multiple births, double the period for single parents with sole custody. The allowance stops the day after the child's 8th birthday (DYPA circular 632286/30.07.2026). Application period: open all year (online application within the parental leave period).
