After the submission period the SAEK directorate assesses the application and issues a decision. If it is rejected, you can ask for a review within 1 month.

The Directorate for Vocational Training issues a payment decision and INEDIVIM pays the amount.

What it is
Trainees of the Ministry of Education's public higher vocational training schools (SAEK, formerly public IEK) receive an annual housing allowance when they live in a rented home in order to study away from their main residence. The amount is set by article 10(1) of law 3220/2004; Government Gazette B' 550/2026 costs it at €1,500 per beneficiary. Conditions: Greek citizen or citizen of another EU country; previous year's family income up to €30,000, plus €3,000 for each dependent child beyond the first; a lease (or a stay in a guesthouse or hotel) for at least 6 months of the training year, in the regional unit where the SAEK or its branch is based, in a town other than the main residence (Attica, except the Islands regional unit and areas more than 40 km from central Athens, counts as one town; so does Thessaloniki with areas less than 20 km away); neither the trainee nor the parents own another home in the town of study, nor homes above 200 m² in total (homes in municipalities or communities under 3,000 residents do not count); both semesters of the year completed successfully (for the 1st year a certificate of attendance of the 1st and 2nd semester is enough), without exceeding the training period. The allowance is paid up to 3 times and for one specialty only. Two public-SAEK trainees of the same town or regional unit who live together each receive it, if each of them (or their parent) appears in the lease declaration at AADE. Apply online at gov.gr with TAXISnet credentials; after the submission period the SAEK directorates assess the applications and INEDIVIM pays.
