What it is
The Hellenic Oncology Foundation, together with the Region of Peloponnese (General Directorate of Public Health & Social Welfare) and the municipalities, runs the screening programme «GREECE AGAINST CANCER» for the prevention and early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancer. A mobile unit of the Foundation parks in one municipality at a time and examines the women who live there. The tests are completely free, with no income, insurance or tax criteria: a Pap test for women aged 25 to 70 (liquid-based with HPV testing for ages 30 to 50) and digital mammography for women aged 40 and over. Women who took part in the previous round are re-examined too. Results are sent by personal letter; if further tests are needed, they are also free. The Region announces each round on its website with the phone numbers for appointments. From 23/09/2026 the unit is in the Municipality of Argos-Mykines (appointments on 2713 610238-245, Public Health Directorate of the Region of Peloponnese).
