How to apply
The steps to apply yourself. Free: you don’t need to pay anyone.

Usually the details gov.gr already holds about you are enough.
Step by step
- 1
Check if you belong to an eligible category
Zero medication co-payment applies to uninsured and low-income citizens who meet the income criteria, to specific chronic conditions on the official list, and to people with 80% or higher visual disability. Note two things: for chronic conditions the list provides zero co-payment in some cases and reduced co-payment in others, and an 80% disability rating for a condition other than vision does not on its own grant an exemption.

For the income criterion you do not apply
You do not submit an application and you do not need to visit any office. The check is done electronically, by cross-referencing your income and insurance data through IDIKA and the General Secretariat of Information Systems, based on your tax return — which is why it matters that you file it every year.
- 3
Check your co-payment rate online
On the IDIKA website you can see your medication co-payment rate by logging in with your Taxisnet credentials and your AMKA (social security number). That way you know where you stand before you go to the pharmacy.

For a chronic condition or visual disability, talk to your doctor
In these cases you do not need to do anything yourself: your treating doctor records the diagnosis or the relevant indication on the e-prescription, and the system applies the reduced or zero co-payment provided for. If you have a KEPA disability certificate, tell your doctor so they can take it into account.
- 5
Go to the pharmacy with your AMKA and prescription
At the pharmacy you give your AMKA and the e-prescription. If you are entitled to zero co-payment, the system shows it automatically when the prescription is dispensed, and you do not need to show any other document.
- 6
If something does not look right
If the pharmacy asks you for a co-payment and you believe it should not, first check your rate online. If your AMKA is not valid or is not correctly linked to your tax number (AFM), visit a citizen service centre (KEP) to have it corrected. If the issue concerns the diagnosis or indication on the prescription, contact your doctor.

What it is
Zero co-payment for medicines is not a single benefit with a general income limit or a general requirement of three children. It applies to the special categories provided for by law, such as beneficiaries of the scheme for uninsured and low-income people, specific chronic conditions and certain categories of disability. The criteria differ for each route and must be checked in the e-prescription system and in the relevant official decisions.
