EOPYY covers the costs of finding a bone-marrow donor and transporting the graft from abroad to Greece for insured people who need a transplant. No consular authentication and no Health Committee examination are needed.

What it is
Under article 6 of EOPYY's Single Health Benefits Regulation (EKPY), EOPYY pays beneficiaries the costs of finding a bone-marrow donor and of transporting the graft from abroad to Greece, on submission of the supporting documents. It concerns insured people who need a bone-marrow transplant from a donor abroad, decided by the Ministry of Health's transplant coordination service after a histocompatibility check. No consular authentication and no Health Committee examination are needed. The actual cost is covered; in practice EOPYY pays the foreign donor registry directly.
