What it is
The Temporary Insurance and Healthcare Number for Foreigners (PAAYPA) is given to applicants for international protection (asylum) for medical and pharmaceutical care, access to health services, the labour market and social insurance. It is issued at the same time as the international protection applicant's card, with no separate application. If the asylum application is rejected, the PAAYPA is deactivated automatically; as an exception, for an unaccompanied minor it stays active until the return decision is carried out or the minor comes of age.
